Advanced Vascular Surgery and TCAR Carotid Revascularization
Advanced Vascular Surgery is committed to offering the best treatment options to patients suffering from blockages in the carotid artery. TCAR, or Carotid Revascularization, is a procedure for patients who cannot undergo traditional open surgery. Less invasive and clinically proven, TCAR is performed by making a small incision above the clavicle. A surgeon then places a tube into the artery and redirects blood flow away from your brain. Once this diversion is in place, debris is filtered from the blood, which is then returned to the body. Of all treatment options examined in clinical studies, TCAR has shown the lowest stroke rates.
This treatment option is important because it is estimated that roughly 80% of all strokes in the United States are preventable. A less invasive, more effective treatment affords at-risk patients more options and – potentially – saves their lives. It is especially important because, often, there are no symptoms present with carotid artery disease. Some of the visible symptoms, however, may include:
- Inability to speak clearly
- Inability to control the movement of an arm or leg
- Loss of vision in one eye
- Weakness or tingling on one side of the body
If you have experienced any of these symptoms, it’s essential that you speak with a medical professional immediately. If you are diagnosed, know that there are a number of viable treatment options, including Carotid Revascularization.
At Advanced Vascular Surgery, our goal is to provide patients and medical professionals with proven, effective treatment options. Whether you’re suffering from mesenteric ischemia, peripheral arterial disease, renal artery stenosis, or any number of other diseases, we want you to know that we’re here.
