Advanced Vascular Surgery Clinic

Advanced Vascular Surgery

There are 40 million Americans suffering with varicose veins and venous disorders. Advanced Vascular Surgery services 9 clinic locations throughout Southwest Michigan providing advanced venous treatment and medical management.

Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT)

EVLT is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping. It leaves no scarring and is performed under local anesthesia in our center. It features a short, relatively pain-free recovery time. Prior to treatment, an ultrasound machine is used to map out the vein to be treated. The treatment itself takes less than an hour. Walking immediately after the procedure is encouraged. The patient can return to normal daily activity right away. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for 3-4 weeks.

Sclerotherapy Involves the direct injection of a sclerosing agent into the varicose vein using a very fine needle. The chemical solution irritates the vein tissue, causing the lining to swell, harden and eventually seal off.

Laser Therapy

New medical technologies that use light therapy to eliminate varicose and spider veins have been developed. The new method is virtually pain-free, requires no anesthesia, and allows the patient to get back to an active lifestyle quickly. Treatment is safe and effective.

Microphlebectomy allows for the removal of large surface varicose veins through very small incisions. Unlike traditional vein ligation and stripping, it can be performed in our office. During the procedure, the physician makes micro-incisions or needle punctures as small as 1mm in diameter in the leg. After this procedure, a compression stocking is worn for 2 weeks to minimizes swelling and discomfort and allow for proper healing.

For many complicated venous problems dye needs to be injected to look at the veins in further detail. This is an outpatient procedure. Patients can return to normal activities after a few hours.
